As we gather the fallen leaves, pick the ripening apples, and overstuff the quintessential bird, we occasionally tend to forget that it’s the season to be thankful. Alas, not this year! We’ve gathered a list of all the things that we’re thankful for here at The HON Company. So, grab a smoldering hot chocolate, kick up your flocked feet, and settle in!

1. Our Amazing Customers

First and foremost, we’re thankful for our amazing customers! Your dedication to selling the HON brand and promoting our products is without parallel; we appreciate your support! From east coast to west coast, and everywhere in between, we value the fact that our customers choose the HON brand. Thank you for your continuing partnership!

2. Our Dedicated Members

What makes The HON Company tick? Our members! Everyone from Supply Chain to Marketing, Customer Support to Sales, Training to Product and beyond has a hand in the daily upkeep of this amazing company. Whether we’re working on garnering the next shipment of lock assemblies or designing a new prototype, we all work together to make this a well-oiled machine.

3. Our Commitment to Being a Great Place to Work

Chili Contests, Jeans Days, volunteer and professional opportunities … who wouldn’t want to work for HON? As a member going on her seventh year of working for this fantastic company, I can’t imagine working elsewhere. We continually improve our members through leadership programs, HON University courses, and frequent training sessions. Now that’s something to sink your teeth into!

4. Our Evolving Products

On average, we launch about 10 new product lines a year! We stay ahead of this ever-changing industry by constantly evolving our product assortment, revolutionizing our materials and textiles, and introducing innovative new product lines. Check out our newly launched seating textile In Season (aptly named for a fall blog!), view our recently expanded Flock collection, or try out our Build Tool on hon.com today!

5. Our Community

Nestled in the heart of the Midwest, Muscatine, Iowa was the Pearl Button Capital of the World in 1905, accounting for nearly 37% of the world’s buttons. Since then, Muscatine has become home to The HON Company where we take a vested interest in upholding our strong community. Whether we’re fundraising for local or national charities with the HNI Charitable Foundation or helping the community in partnering with City of Hope, we strive to make a difference!

Though we’re not serving hot apple cider and green bean casserole just yet, there’s plenty to be thankful for here at The HON Company! Anything you’d like to add to the list? Tell us below!

With 2015 coming to an end, I thought it would be appropriate to reflect on what I’ve been especially thankful for in 2015.

  1. Soothe™. HON has been doing incredible things in healthcare for years, and now we’ve taken it to the next level with the introduction of Soothe.  Helpful resources, such as our healthcare fabrics brochure, provide inspiration for every space within a healthcare facility and ensure that the best fabric is used in every setting.

  3. Solve™ & Quotient™. These new kids on the block are fast favorites. Solve and Quotient both complement our other seating solutions while providing a new price point in our winning assortment.  And if you’re one who needs to see to believe, locate a HON dealer and try out a sample in your market!

  4. Height Adjustable Tables. Our new Height Adjustable Base, now named Coordinate™, is to tables as the HON Ignition chair is to seating.  It’s sure to fit almost anyone in your office.  Boasting a 3-stage base that adjusts from 23 5⁄8″ to 49 1⁄4″, this table is your workstation companion to the Ignition chair which fits the 5th to 95th percentile of people in the workplace.

  5. HON Members. This well-oiled machine wouldn’t run as well as it does without the fantastic people that make up HON.  From manufacturing to marketing, the members at HON make the holidays even brighter.

What are some of your 2015 highlights?

The holidays are a great time of year to come up with creative new ways to engage with your customers and partners. Whether you’re hosting a training for a newly launched product, sponsoring an event or participating in a vendor fair, we all know that the more face time you get with a customer, the better.

Holiday Showroom Event:

For a Sales Representative, this time of year is about finishing the year strong (the food and gifts are just an added bonus!). Celebrate the holidays with your customers by inviting them to your showroom and organizing a holiday-themed giveaway to encourage them to attend the event. Make sure to target customers who already have an interest in your product or are in the middle of making a decision about which products to order. By showing your appreciation for their business and giving them one last chance to check out your products, you position yourself to close those final sales before the year ends.

Catalog Distribution Tips:

The HON Company ships its new catalogs to customers during the holiday season, and it’s the perfect excuse to do something extra special for customers. If you have the time, try hand delivering your catalogs or brochures for an added personal touch. Or, try wrapping your catalogs in a holiday bow or bag to make it look like a special gift. Include a handwritten note that offers tips for using your catalogs and selecting your products. Anything you can do to help your catalog stand out will get your customers thinking about you and your products in 2016!

New Year Kick-Off Dinner:

Make sure you are top of mind for your customers at the start of 2016 by organizing a New Year kick-off dinner. Be mindful of vacation time and try to schedule it 1-2 weeks after everyone returns from their holiday breaks. Inviting your most important customers to dinner at the beginning of the year will make them feel valued and inspire them to select your products.

What are some of the ways you celebrate the holidays with your customers?

With bellies still full from enjoying Thanksgiving leftovers, many individuals are already looking ahead to the next big holiday.  The holidays are a special time of year to spend with our friends and family, but they also provide us with a great opportunity to team up with our office family and give back to the local community.

Here are 7 ways you can team up to give back this holiday season:

  1. Holiday Gift Tree: Contact a local humanitarian organization (Salvation Army, Toys for Tots, etc.) for a list of local families struggling to afford gifts for the holidays and invite everyone in your office to sponsor an individual or family. Most organizations will provide the gender, age, and a few gift ideas for each family member to help you know what to buy.
  2. Holiday Drive: Host a food drive and donate the items to your local food pantry. Plan a coat drive and encourage your team to bring in coats or other winter accessories they no longer use. Add some friendly competition by picking a theme and turning it into a contest between departments. These are great ways to donate items to someone in need.
  3. Bake-off: Ask office members to bake holiday treats and deliver them to members of the community.  Consider visiting after school programs, nursing homes, assisted living communities, etc.
  4. “Festive Sweater” Contest: Ask members of your team to pay to wear a holiday-themed sweater to work for a day.  It’s a great way to spread the holiday energy in the office and you can donate the proceeds to a local charity.
  5. Volunteer Gift-Wrapping: Organize for members of your office to volunteer their time at a local mall or shopping center to spread the holiday cheer by wrapping gifts for busy shoppers.
  6. Volunteer at a soup kitchen: Partner with a local shelter or soup kitchen to organize scheduled times when your team can help serve meals to people in the community. Make it a fun lunch date or afternoon break that everyone in your department can participate in together.
  7. Caroling: Provide your members an opportunity to share some of their other talents by coordinating a time to sing your favorite holiday songs at different places throughout town.

Share with us some of the creative ways your office plans to give back to the community this holiday season.

Thanksgiving has come and gone which means the winter holidays are quickly approaching. You may have your home decorated in lights, wreaths and ornaments, but have you thought of adding a bit of holiday spirit to your workspace?

Here are some quick ideas that will add a bit of holiday pop to your workspace, without going overboard:

Winter themed tissue boxes – The cold weather has you sniffling anyway-may as well use it as a decoration.

Small decorations – Such as framed holiday sayings or small ornaments.

Winter photos of your family or pets – I personally prefer adding pictures of my pup, but put a family Christmas card to more use!

Holiday screensaver – When you are away, a boost of holiday spirit will be added to your space.

Holiday mugs – Those crazy holiday mugs in the back of your cupboard are finally in season! Make an appearance with your mug at a meeting and you’re bound to spread some holiday cheer!

Coasters – These add a little color and can be changed for the season. Plus, they are great displays for your holiday mugs.

Fun calendar – Works year round to add some pop to your workspace.

Here’s how HON members have added holiday spirit to their workspaces:
