There are so many reasons to be excited about NeoCon 2016, but here are 3 reasons to make sure you visit HON – either in our showroom or on social media – June 13-15:

Be HON
Our theme this year is “Be Authentic, Be Honest, Be HON.”, and we are bringing it to life throughout the recently renovated HON showroom. The space has been transformed to give our visitors a chance to feel part of our story and to “Be HON”.

Become a part of our showroom design when you snap a Polaroid photo with your friends and add it to our giant photo collage (stay tuned for our fun new props!). Plus, you won’t want to miss our surprise activity to promote HON’s broad selection of fabrics and finishes by giving you the chance to add your own pop of color to our space. We’ll be capturing all of these exciting activities on social media too, so be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and look for the hashtag #BeHON!

Be Rewarded
Who doesn’t like free stuff? We’ll be giving our showroom visitors the latest HON swag just for stopping by. (Let’s just say, these items are both practical and stylish – kind of like our furniture!). Be sure to stop in early so you don’t miss out!  Can’t make it to Chicago? That’s ok, we’ll have other chances for you to win through our Facebook sharing contest. During NeoCon, share any photo from our HON Facebook page to yours that has the hashtag #BeHON in the caption and you’ll be entered to win one of three Polaroid Z2300 cameras.

We can’t wait to see you next week in HON’s Chicago Showroom, Chicago Merchandise Mart Suite 1130. Let us know why you’re excited about NeoCon 2016!

Whether this was your first year attending NeoCon East or your tenth, one thing that set this year apart from the rest was the new destination – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With a brand new location, attendees were especially enthusiastic about this year’s show, and I may have been on the top of that list as this was my first time attending. As the HON Resource Center Business Manager in Washington, DC, I was excited to have the opportunity to help plan this event. Our team transformed our 800 square foot space into a story; a tangible example of how HON is inspired by practicality in the workplace. We showcased everything from our top-selling legacy products to a brand new seating line and sneak peeks of upcoming launches, allowing our visitors to see, touch and experience the HON story firsthand in a variety of ways:

Inspired Practicality

In an effort to continuously improve our product offering, we work hard to listen to our customers and create purposeful solutions to meet their specific workplace needs. Wherever you are and wherever you’re going, our products are designed to adapt and evolve with your business. Our booth was inspired by this idea, highlighting our complete solutions from reception areas to collaborative spaces to the private office.

New Products

At this year’s show, we were especially excited to introduce Solve®, our new line of seating that launched in October. Our Solve display highlighted three back options – illra®-stretch Mesh Back, Upholstered ReActiv™ Back, and ReActiv™ Back. ReActiv is a new back option unique to Solve that will be available early 2016. It is a hexagonal design that flexes independently to deliver support. Guests in our space also had the chance to preview our new Contain® Pedestals and Standing Height Voi® legs and storage, all available for order in January 2016.

Color

Our guests also loved all of HON’s new fun fabric options. We’ve added over 900 this year alone! From bright solids to exciting patterns, HON has the perfect color for everyone.

HON Swag

Everyone who visited the HON booth could go home with a HON luggage tag and a HON bag. These were definitely a hit with our guests who traveled from all around the country to attend the event. The fact that they were all gone by day 1 of the show says it all!

Building Relationships

We really enjoy hearing about our guests’ experiences with HON, and events like NeoCon East give us a chance to interact with some of our most valued customers and partners. And what better way to capture the fun than with a photo! We encouraged our guests to snap a selfie with our 3D #HONSpotted prop in front of their favorite HON products and layouts.

If you stopped by our booth and took a picture, be sure to look for @honcompany on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to find your #HONSpotted photo. If you were unable to attend, don’t worry! Browse our Flickr album and get a glimpse of the excitement at NeoCon East.

We always want you to be part of the conversation. If you are ever at one of our events or showrooms, see a HON truck on the road, want to celebrate a successful installation project, or just find yourself sitting on your favorite HON chair, take a picture and tag us with #HONSpotted so we can be a part of it with you!

In the spirit of Halloween, let’s talk about something that can be really scary…..you guessed it, the world of social media! If your business hasn’t jumped on the hayrack (or bandwagon) yet, have no fear. Here are 3 ways to make sure you don’t get lost in the (corn) maze:

Hide out for a while

Regardless of the pressure you may be feeling to jump on social media, don’t rush into it. The best first step is to not move at all; instead, sit back and observe. What are your key audiences saying about your brand or your industry as a whole? What are you competitors doing online? Just like any offline relationship, a successful social media relationship starts with listening. Once you know where your audiences are most active and what they need, you’ll be better positioned to jump into the conversation at the right time and offer an effective solution that meets those needs.

Carve out your strategy

Let’s get festive and pretend your social media strategy is a pumpkin. What would you carve into it? What story would your design tell? It’s important to have a good understanding of who you are and what makes your business unique. Yes, social media is known for informal interaction, but everything you post should be purposeful with an end goal in mind.  Be sure to outline your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) ahead of time to help you measure the success of your social media content and strategy.

Be the friendly ghost

The key to a successful social media presence is transparency. Don’t be afraid to let your followers see through your larger business objectives to build trust and really humanize your brand. Your followers become more than just customers; they become friends, so share content that is driven by more than your company’s sales initiatives. Reward them with exclusive behind-the-scenes sneak peeks, post photos from your office’s fun holiday festivities, and share inspirational stories of your work in the community. Maintaining an online “friendship” with your key stakeholders requires a combination of solving their problems, teaching them new information, motivating them, and celebrating their successes (what I like to call a virtual high-five). Be prepared to invest the time it will take to reciprocate the support your followers are giving you by proactively monitoring their activities and helping them find the tools they need to succeed.
