Do you struggle to find the time to work out in the midst of your busy life? You’re not alone. Many Americans cite the lack of time as the top reason for not hitting the gym. If your spare time doesn’t grow on trees, or you’d just like to up your workout game, check out these 15 tips for finding your fitness at work!

Take a Hike. In other words, get up and move! Every hour or so, get up and take a brisk walk around the office. It’ll add up!

Hold a Standing Meeting – Literally. Just because you’re meeting doesn’t mean you have to be sitting. Schedule it at a standing table or desk!

Do Mini Exercises at Your Desk! Hold your feet just off the ground for sixty seconds or alternative holding your legs parallel to the floor. Trust me, it’s a workout!

Take the Stairs. Don’t take the elevator if you can help it. Climbing a flight of stairs is nearly equivalent to running!

Turn Off Your IM. Need to message a co-worker? Jog over to their desk instead of taking the technological easy route.

Take Advantage of your Lunch Hour. Join a local gym, or walk down by the river when you have a block of open time.

Snack Smart. Don’t load up on caffeine and sweets if you want to shed some extra pounds. Any variety of healthy snacks can help you take the edge of your hunger.

Stretch It Out. Nothing feels better than a couple of stretches to mix up your morning. It gets the oxygen flowing and gives your brain a break.

Walk, Run, or Bike to Work! If you’re close enough (and rain clouds aren’t on the horizon), take the opportunity to ditch the car!

Exercise at Your Standing Desk. Standing desks are a great start to finding your fitness. Want to up the ante? Try throwing in some calf raises and one-legged squats throughout the day.

Maintain Good Posture. Don’t slouch. Good posture has innumerable health benefits, including a straighter spine.

Schedule Out of the Way Conference Rooms. Up the stairs, around the corner, and down the hall? Yes, please! It’s a great excuse to get in your steps and get away from your desk.

Park in the Next Zip Code. Walking a few blocks to the office is a great way to start your day and arrange your priorities, or clear your head and stretch your legs after a long day!

Walk While You Talk. Conference calls scheduled all day long? Take a walk during those calls to get in your steps and energize your mind.

Change your Space. Don’t be contained to your desk – go seek out your collaborative spaces and common areas. Mix it up!

As the clock ticks closer, the masses scan their inboxes, knowing that this email is likely the last. Once the email is sent, the silent scramble takes place and the fateful few reply … BINGO! Hand Outs Help

Something, even as small as a painted rock, can make a big difference!

Flagship - Back Cover

Suffering from stressful deadlines? Plagued with too many things to do? Surrounded by 87 sticky notes crawling into your typing space? Well, here’s your answer: Organization. But don’t run away from the word just yet! While the seemingly harmless word conjures up thoughts of perfectly manicured closets, color coded folders, and plastic storage totes with typed labels, there’s more to it!

These five ways to ‘Organize Your Office’ will aid in your pursuit of a perfected workspace!

Write it Down!
…But you don’t have to buy stock in paper. Writing it down simply means to make a note of it. If you’re like me, relying on memory occasionally (read: usually) results in poor outcomes. Take a notebook with you, jot down notes on your printed slides, or even send yourself an email. But I recommend staying away from multiple, smaller notes; they only add to the clutter!

Go Crazy with Colors
Kindergarten teachers know the ropes – and pull out all the stops. As ‘elementary’ as it may be, color coding is highly effective! Using a color system to categorize documents, meetings, or binders can help you visually assess and process things much faster than taking time to read a label. Personally, I use color coding in my Outlook calendar – a quick glance is all I need to know where I’m headed and for what!

Declutter
While you’re reminding yourself to organize your notes and to dos, decluttering is also a good idea! Endless piles of paper and PowerPoints sitting on a disheveled desk isn’t doing you any favors. As I’ve alluded to in previous blogs, a clean workspace can do wonders. To Do List
There’s nothing like the satisfaction of crossing something off of your To Do List. But in order to feel that satisfaction … you must have a To Do List! Making a list (and checking it twice) will ensure that you complete those important tasks without them falling off your radar. For me, maintaining a list helps me prioritize and keep track of those projects that aren’t knocking on my office door.

Make a Schedule, Set Deadlines
Hustle and bustle at the office may seem like it equates to productivity, but it often does not. If you’re struggling to tread water, take a look at your schedule. Booked 125% of your day? Check if you need to attend every meeting. See a deadline coming up that you might not meet? Book some ‘Me Time’ on your calendar to work away in the closest Flock touchdown station.
